Links not working and keep wanting to open the Online Library

If Equipd keeps complaining that it does not know what to do with a link, and offers to open the Online Library, then please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have updated to the latest version 3.7.1 on the App Store. Version 3.7.1 was made available for upgrade for several weeks in May/June 2017.
  2. Click on “Admin” on the bottom toolbar
  3. Go to “General
  4. Click on “Delete Redirection Links”. If this button is not there, then you are not yet using version 3.7.1.
  5. Make sure you read the alert message.

Try the links again.


Why did these links break?

Warning: This explanation is not for the faint of heart :)

The first thing to understand is that these are not “normal” links. Normal links go from A -> B. These links are redirection links, and instead go from A -> Z -> B. For these redirection links to work in Equipd offline, Equipd had to detect the link was a redirection link, follow the link from A -> Z and store the final destination as B. Recently all pages on WOL have been forced to being served via HTTPS instead of HTTP. So that added yet another redirection step A -> HTTP_Z -> HTTPS_Z -> B (note the HTTPS). Equipd was following the link to the HTTPS redirection, and storing that … instead following through the 1 extra step to get to the final destination of B. Version 3.7.1 fixes this issue by going from A -> HTTPS_Z and storing B.

I am sure there was a better way to explain that. But hey, if you made it that far, then well done! The main thing is that the issue is fixed now.
